- 學習新聞英文用字遣詞精確簡潔有力。
- 擴充並加強學生在各領域的字彙與閱讀能力。
- 欣賞新聞英文報導中所使用的諷刺、幽默與暗喻等。
- 瞭解新聞時事議題的背景文化知識。
- 發展分析批判思考能力，具備談論個時事議題的能力，發表自己的看法。
- 培養規律閱讀英文報紙、收看英語新聞播報的習慣。

2022-自學課程-時事英文：掌握世界的脈動 (7-12月)
欲成為21世紀的領袖人才，與國際時事同步和具備英語溝通能力是不可或缺的兩大要素。本課程將以國內外英文報紙(Taipei Times, The New York Times, The Washington Post等)為主，各大新聞英語廣播(CNN, BBC, ABC News, ICRT等)為輔，幫助學生透過讀懂、聽懂英語新聞而擴充在各領域 (包括政治、軍事、財經、科技、醫藥、環境、藝術、運動等) 的字彙與文化背景知識，加強學生英語實力的廣度及深度，並培養國際觀與批判思考的能力。
